Japanese brand Chimala is one of the lesser-known denim labels out there, but it is definitely one of the best.
The Chimala website contains just two pages – home and contact.
Collection images, stockists, even an about me page, all these things were apparently too frivolous for Chimala.
They might not devote a lot of effort to their website, but I imagine that’s because Chimala designer Noriko Machida is too busy fading westerns and studying selvedge to worry about the internet.
Chimala creates its look by pursuing the best fabrics of the highest quality and by obtaining the most sophisticated skills in production from the finest Japanese artisans. Chimala it’s known for the meticulous distressing processes that creates their authentic washes.
Design inspirations and sources are mostly from 50′s – 70′s daily wear. Jeans, denim shirts, and other basics are the name of the game for Chimala.
Is notoriously hard to get your hands on Chimala. At the moment you can find it at J. Crew, Unionmade, and Totokaelo.
