Back in the Netherlands…Black and Blue Store

Next weekend I will flight to Amsterdam. I lived there for a few years and I look forward to strolling along the canals and visiting my favorite denim stores. As I have a few days at my disposal, I have decided to make a short trip to Nijmegen. Nijmegen is one of oldest cities in the Netherlands, situated at the borders with Germany.

It is in this historical city where two friends, Barry van den Heuvel and Sjors Coolen, founded Black & Blue. I met Barry on Instagram as we both share a great passion for denim, workwear and craftmanship.

Barry sent me some pictures of the store. I can’t wait to visit it: a truly American spot in the Netherlands.

The selection of brands is impressive and fits perfectly the American heritage lifestyle: Indigofera, Carhartt, Lee101, Pike Brothers, Rising Sun, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Butts and Shoulders, Red Wing. The store is also one of the few European retailers carrying Zace USA, an authentic and life time lasting denim completely handmade in Ohio by Zace Mayers.

I hope the weather will be nice, as I would not mind to taste Barry’s bbq. Barry and Sjors, in fact, wholesale the American bbq smokers brand Yoder. If you are interested they also give bbq workshops at their place!

The symbol of the store is a beaver, that stands for brotherhood, perseverance, hard work and harmony. Black & Blue is a place where people come to share time together, surrounded by authentic goods in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
